History

Elnora was platted in 1885 when the railroad was extended to that point. It was named for Elnora Griffith, wife of an early merchant.

As of the census of 2010, there were 640 people, 249 households, and 164 families living in the town. The population density was 673.7 inhabitants per square mile (260.1/km²). There were 308 housing units at an average density of 324.2 per square mile (125.2/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 96.9% White, 0.5% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.6% Asian, 0.3% from other races, and 1.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.7% of the population.

There were 249 households, of which 32.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.8% were married couples living together, 16.1% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.0% had a male householder with no wife present, and 34.1% were non-families.
