Hampton, the county seat, is 9 miles (14 km) to the east, and Columbia, the state capital, is 84 miles (135 km) to the north.

There were 146 housing units at an average density of 155.1 per square mile (60.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 6.22% White, 92.70% African American, and 1.08% from two or more races.
