Herman is a village in Washington County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 268 at the 2010 census.
Herman was platted in 1871 when the railroad was extended to that point. It was named for Samuel Herman, a railroad employee.
On July 13, 1899, Herman was struck by a tornado that killed 13 people.
Herman is located at 41°40′25″N 96°12′57″W (41.673500, -96.215935).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.14 square miles (0.36 km2), all land.
As of the census of 2010, there were 268 people, 116 households, and 74 families living in the village. The population density was 1,914.3 inhabitants per square mile (739.1/km2). There were 134 housing units at an average density of 957.1 per square mile (369.5/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 99.6% White and 0.4% Asian. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.1% of the population.
There were 116 households, of which 28.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.1% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.0% had a male householder with no wife present, and 36.2% were non-families. 31.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
