Reeseville was named after an early settler, Samuel Reese, by his son Adam Reese who surveyed and platted the area. Samuel Reese settled here in 1845.

The racial makeup of the village was 95.3% White, 0.7% African American, 1.0% Asian, 1.4% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.7% of the population.
There were 288 households of which 32.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.7% were married couples living together, 6.9% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 37.2% were non-families.
