Summitville is a town in Van Buren Township, Madison County, Indiana, United States. It is part of the Anderson, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 967 at the 2010 census.

History

Summitville was laid out in 1867. It was named for its lofty elevation.

The Joseph & Lucinda Thawley House was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

As of the census of 2010, there were 967 people, 378 households, and 268 families living in the town. The population density was 1,973.5 inhabitants per square mile (762.0/km²). There were 430 housing units at an average density of 877.6 per square mile (338.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 96.6% White, 0.7% African American, 0.1% Native American, 1.4% from other races, and 1.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.1% of the population.

There were 378 households, of which 34.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.7% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 29.1% were non-families.
