As of the census of 2000, there were 4,625 people, 2,356 households, and 1,175 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,871.7 people per square mile (1,109.1/km²). There were 2,413 housing units at an average density of 1,498.3/sq mi (578.7/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 89.71% White, 1.84% African American, 0.17% Native American, 7.07% Asian, 0.52% from other races, and 0.69% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.03% of the population.

There were 2,356 households, out of which 20.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.2% were married couples living together, 8.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 50.1% were non-families. 42.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
