South Chicago Heights is a village and a south suburb in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 4,139 at the 2010 census.
South Chicago Heights is located at 41°29′0″N 87°38′15″W (41.483375, −87.637461).
According to the 2010 census, South Chicago Heights has a total area of 1.596 square miles (4.13 km2), of which 1.58 square miles (4.09 km2) (or 99%) is land and 0.016 square miles (0.04 km2) (or 1%) is water.
As of the Census of 2010, there were 4,139 people, 1,517 households, and 982 families living in the village. The racial makeup of the village was 63.3% White, 16.8% African American, 0.6% Native American, 1.1% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 15.7% from other races, and 2.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 34.8% of the population.
There were 1,517 households, out of which 31.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 40.2% were married couples living together, 17.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% were non-families. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.28.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18. The median age was 36.4 years. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 98.9 females.
