According to the 2010 census, Evansville has a total area of 0.817 square miles (2.12 km2), of which 0.79 square miles (2.05 km2) (or 96.7%) is land and 0.027 square miles (0.07 km2) (or 3.3%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 724 people, 298 households, and 191 families residing in the village. The population density was 976.9 people per square mile (377.8/km2). There were 317 housing units at an average density of 427.7 per square mile (165.4/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.90% White, 0.41% African American, 0.14% Asian, 0.28% Pacific Islander, and 0.28% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.69% of the population.
There were 298 households, out of which 29.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.6% were non-families. 31.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 3.01.
